Nanny/Clinic Assistant

Do you have experience as a nanny or in childcare with young babies and children? Are you nurturing and dedicated to providing a safe and stimulating environment for young children's learning? Do you have an interest in learning about children with Developmental Disabilities/paediatric therapy and being part of a small friendly team? 

We have a unique opportunity for a  Nanny/Clinic Assistant to join our friendly, supportive and driven team of mums at our Umina Beach Clinic on the beautiful Central Coast!

The role will be predominantly looking after a lovely and inquisitive 6 month old baby girl whilst her mum (Clinical Director and Owner of Climb Learning) provides therapy for our amazing clients. To begin with, the role will be based at the clinic where you will get to know the team and be supported in getting up and running with looking after baby C. When she is with her mum, you will have the opportunity to help out in the clinic with admin tasks, playing with the children and supporting the smooth running of our clinic. Thereafter, childcare will be delivered flexibly at the child’s home (in Killcare) alongside the friendly fur babies (one Cockapoo and one Labrador), in the community (going to playgroups, on walks and adventures) and visiting/helping in the clinic. This would be an ideal role for someone with childcare experience who is keen to learn more about paediatric therapy and be part of a friendly team. Days and hours can also be flexible and could fit around study commitments.

Job responsibilities:   

  • Providing outstanding care for a 6-month-old baby.
  • Engaging the baby in age-appropriate activities that promote learning, creativity, and social development.
  • Taking the baby on outings, like going to the park, library or a walk on the beach (the clinic is across the road from the library and a 5-minute walk from the beach).
  • When required (and based at the clinic), assist with light administration tasks related to the clinic, such as tidying up the play areas, supporting our therapists in their delivery of therapy sessions (at a minimal level) and maintaining and organising clinical resources.

Requirements and details:   

  • Prior experience as a nanny or in a childcare role with excellent references.
  • Able to care for baby C at the clinic and in the home.
  • Happy and confident around domestic and friendly dogs (they spend most of their time living their best life running around the garden and are very independent). 
  • Clean driver’s licence and willingness to drive short distances (ideally with your own car).   
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Organised and positive outlook.
  • First aid and CPR certification are required.
  • WWCC and up to date Police Check are required.
  • Relevant qualifications are highly preferable.
  • Reliable and able to make a minimum of a 6 month commitment to the role.

Compensation and benefits:    

Pay is $25-30hr      

Superannuation and annual /sick leave.

 

Schedule:

This is a 15-32.5 hour/week position. Days and times are negotiable.

 

Anticipated start date: 

Ideally, we’d like someone to start at the end of June 2024 with the opportunity to do casual shifts from April, if available.

Senior Educator Role

Are you an experienced educator with a passion for literacy, numeracy, assessments, positive behaviour support and working with children with developmental disabilities?

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Primary level Educator to join our senior therapy team at our Umina Beach clinic. We are looking for a driven and experienced educator who would like to continue their professional development in supporting young children with learning, behaviour and developmental disabilities.

You will need to have experience working in a busy, fast-paced environment, as well as have the ability to remain calm in challenging situations. You will use your knowledge and skills as an experienced educator whilst gaining the knowledge to implement effective strategies for building children's skills and learning, with a focus on literacy and numeracy, and learning strategies to effectively support children with behaviours of concern.

The Senior Educator will be an integral part of the senior CLIMB team. The role involves:

  • Implementing fun and effective therapy and education sessions 1:1 for School aged children, in our clinic and in schools.
  • Visiting clients at school to deliver 1:1 education (literacy, numeracy, and assessments) as well as behaviour therapy support services.
  • Taking a lead role in organising and coordinating the daily activities and individual programs for your clients.
  • Building positive relationships with children, schools, and families
  • Maintaining the clinic setting and resources as needed
  • Writing individual therapy case notes
  • Participating in extensive professional development.

We are looking for:

  • Degree level qualification in Education/Teaching
  • A minimum of 2 years of professional and practical experience working with young children (0-8years)
  • A strong interest in working with children with developmental disabilities
  • An interest in positive behaviour support (training/experience in this area is highly regarded)
  • A passion for delivering literacy and numeracy programs
  • Enthusiasm for learning and a willingness to take on further study (supported by CLIMB)
  • A high level of professionalism at all times
  • Ability to work under own initiative as well as part of a small team
  • Excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to be autonomous
  • Respect for reliability and punctuality

The Speech Therapy Assistant will be an integral part of the CLIMB team. The role involves:

  • Implementing fun and effective speech therapy sessions under the supervision of the Clinical Director/ Senior Speech Pathologist
  • Support the Clinical in administering formal and informal communication
  • Implementing feeding management plans
  • Assisting in the running of group programs
  • Supporting the children to use their communication devices (AAC) in everyday situations (play, mealtimes, transitions etc)
  • Implement evidence-based literacy programs under the supervision of the Clinical Director/ Senior Speech Pathologist
  • Working in the clinic, community and schools/preschools
  • Participating in extensive professional development in the areas of evidence-based curriculums and programs, communication (including working with non-verbal children), ABA and Behaviour Support
  • Prepare and create therapy resources

We are looking for the following from our Speech Therapy Assistant:

  • Completed Speech Pathology bachelor’s degree or currently completing your final year or undertaking your Masters in Speech Pathology.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience working with children
  • Experience in working with children with additional needs
  • Experience/ strong interest in AAC, feeding, Developmental Disabilities and/or literacy
  • An understanding of Positive Behaviour Support
  • A passion for learning and a willingness to take on further study (supported by CLIMB)

CLIMB Learning is an exclusively paediatric speech therapy service, providing assessments and treatment to children between 12 months to 12 years.

We provide clinic-based speech pathology and positive behaviour support services, school based and transitional programs, AAC, as well as social skills programs for both groups and individuals.

CLIMB also offers paediatric feeding services, enlisting a multi-disciplinary feeding therapy that includes nutrition, sensory preferences, oral motor skill, family emotional support, and mealtime strategies. Core Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement effective intervention programs in areas of speech, language, communication, literacy and feeding
  • Assist with the planning and implementation of group programs.
  • Deliver individualised and group parent training and support as appropriate throughout the course of intervention.
  • Collaborate with team members of our multidisciplinary team
  • Collect, monitor and report on data on client progress.
  • Conduct standardised and informal assessments
  • Regular documentation and reporting requirements, including session progress notes, annual NDIS review reports and exit reports.
  • Conducts regular liaison with school/child care settings, including observations, written summary reports, phone contacts and face to face meetings.
  • Participate in training and supervision with senior staff.
  • Remains current regarding new research, current trends and developments in allied health, special education and behaviour analysis.

Job Requirements Essential:

  • A Bachelors' or Masters' degree in Speech and Language Pathology
  • Demonstrated knowledge and interest in Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • Demonstrated knowledge and interest in evidence based Speech programs
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) is required.
  • A current drivers’ licence and own car. A driving record that meets the standards of the organisation.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with people from a range of cultural and linguistic backgrounds
  • Excellent self-motivation and proven autonomous working skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills including high quality report writing skills
  • Demonstrated experience/knowledge in Applied Behaviour Analysis highly desirable, but not essential.
  • Demonstrated experience/knowledge of Early Years Education is highly desirable, but not essential.
